Helene Lieser · 1926
Helene Lieser’s 1926 review of Schneider-Dahlheim: Usancen der Berliner Fondsbörse, revised by Kurt Hartung, offers a brief, favorable assessment of the handbook’s twenty-fourth edition. Her organizing judgment is continuity: an already excellent practical reference has changed little, so the review concentrates on additions useful to stock-exchange participants.
Neu aufgenommen wurden die Verordnungen, die den Börsenterminhandel regeln, auch werden die Aufwertungsbeträge der Industrieobligationen, soweit sie bekannt sind, angeführt.
English translation: The regulations governing stock-exchange forward trading have been newly included, and the revaluation amounts for industrial bonds are also listed insofar as they are known.
Lieser values the edition’s incorporation of current trading regulations and revaluation information, while retaining its qualification about the information available. She then singles out a practical consequence of the conversion of shares to gold marks:
Ebenso ist auch zu begrüßen, daß nach Durchführung der Goldmarkumstellung der Aktien genau ersichtlich ist, ob alte abgestempelte oder neue Stücke lieferbar sind.
English translation: It is likewise welcome that, following the conversion of shares to gold marks, it is clearly apparent whether old stamped certificates or new certificates are deliverable.
Her endorsement thus rests on operational precision: the handbook helps readers identify which securities can actually be delivered under the changed monetary arrangements.
