Emil Lederer · 1921
Emil Lederer’s 1921 commission discussion intervention distinguishes exceptional cases from the usual operation of cooperative bakeries. His opening objection—qualified by reference to his own knowledge—challenges the representativeness of cases raised in the discussion. He then states the customary pattern:
In der Regel sind diese Genossenschaftsbäckereien solche, welche ganz überwiegend an Mitglieder der Konsumgenossenschaft das Brot verkaufen.
English translation: As a rule, these cooperative bakeries are ones that sell bread predominantly to members of the consumer cooperative.
The decisive distinction concerns whom the bakeries serve: chiefly cooperative members. This brief intervention cautions against generalizing from exceptions; it does not identify those exceptions or develop a broader theory of cooperative production.
