Emil Lederer · 1920
Emil Lederer’s 1920 commission speaking turn on coal mining makes a compact distinction between productive efficiency and socialization:
Jeder Unternehmer, der zweckmäßiger produziert, hat eine größere Rente. Das ist schon heute so ohne Sozialisierung.
English translation: Every entrepreneur who produces more efficiently receives a greater rent. This is already the case today without socialization.
The second sentence supplies the intervention’s argumentative point: efficiency already yields higher rent under existing arrangements. This relationship therefore cannot, by itself, establish what socialization would change. The brief contribution identifies an economic continuity without developing a broader position on socialization.
