Emil Lederer · 1920
This recorded commission speaking turn consists of Lederer’s request to clarify what another speaker means by “Substanz”:
Verstehen Sie, Herr Doktor, unter Substanz die in der Erde noch steckende Kohle oder nur die Anlage?
English translation: Doctor, do you understand “substance” to mean the coal still in the ground, or only the installation?
The question distinguishes the underground coal resource from the installation. Its significance is conceptual: Lederer asks what the term includes before the discussion proceeds. The extract records neither an answer nor a developed position on mining policy.
