Emil Lederer’s short review assesses Acht’s contribution to German-language understanding of French syndicalism. Its central distinction is between documentary usefulness and conceptual achievement: Acht makes an extensive body of original sources accessible, but does not organize them into a coherent interpretation or subject them to sufficiently searching criticism.
Lederer places the book against earlier, less comprehensive discussions in accounts of socialist systems and journal articles. Acht’s principal achievement lies in his use of syndicalist writings, especially works by E. Pouget and articles from syndicalist periodicals:

English translation: The presentation of the content of syndicalist ideas is carried out throughout on the basis of original sources, wherein lies the chief value of the book for the German reader.
The review grants the account objectivity in the specific sense that it draws extensively on all accessible sources. That breadth, however, does not establish analytical depth:
Die Kritik, welche der Autor an den syndikalistischen Theorien und Forderungen übt, geht nicht sehr in die Tiefe.
English translation: The criticism which the author exercises upon the syndicalist theories and demands does not go very deep.
Lederer then outlines the book’s structure. It treats revolutionary syndicalism through its philosophy, principles, and methods—including class struggle, opposition to the state, antipatriotism, antimilitarism, and direct action—before presenting its critique. A further section addresses reformist syndicalism, its practices and relationship to direct action, and the respective place of both tendencies within the French workers’ movement. The book concludes with the principal provisions of the “lex Briand,” enacted following the railway strike.
This outline leads back to Lederer’s governing reservation: collecting statements is not equivalent to explaining the movement they express.
Einen einheitlichen Eindruck vom Syndikalismus scheint der Autor nicht zu haben und es scheinen sich ihm die Aeußerungen, die er vorbringt, nicht in ein einheitliches Bild zu ordnen.
English translation: The author appears not to have a unified impression of syndicalism, and the utterances which he adduces appear not to arrange themselves for him into a unified picture.
The qualified phrasing leaves room for recognition of Acht’s ambition to grasp the problem as a whole. Lederer closes by anticipating a publication that will provide systematic and critical orientation alongside factual information. The review’s significance lies in this compact evaluative standard: documentary comprehensiveness prepares the ground for understanding syndicalism, but cannot substitute for conceptual synthesis.
